This week saw a major step forward in progressing our proposed Rail Trail.
Our thanks to all who have helped achieve this progress
The interest in, and enhanced experience of seeing the hogbacks in place is remarkable. Leaving these hog-backs in place would would leave a testament to a society and people who lived along the corridor and a way of life now gone.
Our group has been active since before Christmas 2017, and has recently come together as an incorporated association. BBIRT Inc wrote to the Gladstone Observer, and the Central North Burnett Times to outline the position of the new body.
Walking the rail tunnels which are located in the southern end of the Boyne Valley and easily accessed from Kalpowar at the top of the range, is a remarkable experience.
You are taken into another world via a remarkably easy gentle gradient walk through some very rugged Australian bush. The tunnels are a tribute to the excellent engineering skills and sheer hard labour of our forebears.

The Boyne Burnett Inland Rail trail has some remarkable and historic infrastructure, none more so than its bridges and tunnels. These are set in beautiful Australian bush landscapes.
This post depicts the Delgilbo to Mundubbera railway bridges constructed from 1905-1914.
It seems that rail trails such as the proposed Boyne Burnett Inland Rail Trail have appeal to a wide range of the population from across the world.
